Though The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said that Persie is soon to be offered a fresh new deal, nothing has been confirmed yet from the former Ajax striker. Persie still has a couple of years left in his Arsenal contract.

Arsenal recently had a severe blow as both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri decided to join new clubs earlier this season. Manager Wenger was criticized heavily after a disastrous 8-2 mauling by Manchester United a few weeks ago. To add insult to injury, this season has been the worst start for The Gunners in last 58 years, as says the records. Wenger signed German stopper Per Mertesacker along with Brazilian Andre Santos, Spaniard Mikel Arteta and Israeli soccer player Yossi Benayoun on the last day of Transfer deadline but his side is yet to play as Championship contenders.

Persie had a discussion with Wenger before the start of the season where they discussed the future of the club and the 28 year old striker reportedly made it very clear that he is not very hopeful with the current crop of players. He scored his 100th goal for Gunners this weekend and had been chased by clubs across the globe for last two years.
